Sieger & Smith's Safety Group Program began in 1978 with Stephen Vasaka’s vision to provide restaurants with a cost-effective workers compensation solution. Partnering with the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF), Stephen created Safety Group # 495 (Restaurant, Tavern, and Diner Owners) focusing on restaurants with favorable loss experience and a mutual desire to reduce workers’ compensation costs. Stephen quickly grew the size of the group, whose members span all regions of New York State. Group 495 has consistently saved money and returned dividends for its members.
In 2006, Stephen again partnered with NYSIF to create New York State's first and only safety group program for country clubs, Group 577. Since then, Group #577 has consistently returned impressive dividends to its members.
Following Stephen Vasaka's passing in May 2017, Inter Insurance Agency collaborated with Sieger & Smith and NYSIF to ensure that Groups 495 and 577 continue under new leadership worthy of Stephen Vasaka's legacy. As a result, Inter Insurance revamped the operational structure of Sieger & Smith in order to provide clients/members with continuous and seamless support.
